It isn't unusual for lots of users to use weak passwords since they're easier to remember or to use scripts, templates and plugins that are not updated for a long time. In either of these examples, it will not be very difficult for a hacker to take over the site and immediately after that to take control of other websites that are hosted within the same account. To prevent this kind of a scenario, we have added an advanced level security option named JailHost. It restricts the access that a script has exclusively to its own folder, so in case one of your websites is compromised, the attacker will see its content, but will not be able to access any other content in your account, therefore the damage will be small. Needless to say, using JailHost doesn't replace the security measures you should always take by keeping your scripts up-to-date and using long and complex passwords, yet it will enable you to restrict any damage to one site only.
JailHost in Cloud Hosting
If you host your sites within a cloud hosting account from our company, you could protect them using the JailHost feature with just a few mouse clicks within your Hepsia Control Panel. This option is provided with all packages and can be enabled for every folder since the domains and subdomains in Hepsia have different folders, so files for many different Internet sites do not get mixed up as it regularly happens with other Control Panels. We have not activated JailHost by default because you might use scripts that need access to folders outside the main website folder and this option could interfere with their correct operation, but shielding all the other folders is very easy. In case a protected Internet site gets hacked for some reason, we can restore it easily as we will have multiple daily backups of your entire account and you will even be able to search the available backups through Hepsia.
JailHost in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Our semi-dedicated hosting plans come with JailHost included by default. This option is not enabled automatically when you add a domain name as you may want to use a script which accesses multiple folders in the account, yet you can activate it without any difficulty from your Hepsia Control Panel and protect the rest of your sites with just a couple of clicks. Hepsia is much better to use if you have multiple sites since it keeps them in individual folders and doesn't keep the files for several sites in the very same folder like it often happens with various other Control Panels. This enables us to offer JailHost as all the folders can be separated from each other. In case that any one of your sites is hacked, we'll be able to promptly restore it thanks to the several daily backups that we will keep and meanwhile your attacker will not be able to do further damage as the access to your other sites will be stopped.
